Non-Profits Cause More Harm Than Good Under Capitalist Systems

Introduction

This series of reports will be a long ongoing investigation leading to your neighbors’ personal stories of how non-profits, under capitalism, hurt the people in many more ways than they help; intentionally or not the harm has still been caused. This reporting is not being done to bash non-profits in general, many have great intentions, but the outcome never turns out as planned under a capitalist system. This investigation and the stories that come out from it are more to show how and who the harm comes to in the end. I intend to show firsthand, through their own stories, how our neighbors and community members’ lives are affected when we just believe the systems in place today.  Our government was started through the means of apartheid, slavery, and genocide. That same government will never let these non-profit organizations, that work within it, help those it was meant to keep down in the first place. They must keep us fighting and struggling, that’s the only way they can continue their hoarding and control over us all. 

The stories told will be done individually as I believe each story deserves the time and dignity to be told and heard on its own. Each individual has the right to anonymity if they feel that is best for them. The next story of this series will be a more detailed telling on why I think non-profits cause more harm than good and why I believe moving forward with mutual aid work and not within the systems meant to keep us where we are is our best way forward.  I hope you continue to come back to learn a little more about mutual aid, anarcho/communism (not what your parents may have taught you and definitely not what the US government has taught you), mixed with some queer, intersectional, decolonized ways of thinking, what was discovered in my investigations on what non-profits in our area are really doing for those they say they help, and the raw, unfiltered stories that need to be heard of our poor, underprivileged, and unhoused neighbors taken advantage of by those willingly working within and believing in our violent, corrupt system.
